First official involved in FIFA case extradited to U.S.

The Swiss Federal Office of Justice did not name the official who was extradited, but last week an informed source told the agency that Jeffrey Webb, a former vice president of FIFA and the president of CONCACAF regional football federation, had agreed to be extradited to the U.S. to face corruption charges, according to the agency.

"The first of the seven FIFA officials being held in custody in Switzerland was extradited to the U.S. on July 15," the justice office said.

A three-man U.S. police escort accompanied the detainee, according to the report.
