Photo from UNIAN The balance of foreign trade in goods and services of Ukraine in January-July 2018 was reduced to a deficit of US$5.503 billion, which is 33% more than the deficit for the same period last year at $4.139 billion, according to the National Bank of Ukraine. The deficit of foreign trade in goods for the period increased by 34.3% to $6.004 billion, while the surplus of foreign trade in services grew 1.5 times to $501 million, reads the report published on the NBU website. According to the central bank, a significant acceleration in imports growth in July was due to the purchase of machinebuilding, food, and industrial products, as well as energy imports. According to the State Statistics Service, Ukraine&#39;s foreign trade balance in 2017 was reduced to a deficit of $2.625 billion, compared to the previous year&#39;s surplus of $541.6 million. The National Bank estimated the deficit of foreign trade in goods and services of Ukraine in 2017 at $6.848 billion, which is 25.2% more than the deficit for 2016.
