According to Gerus, the increases will be made in five steps from April 1, 2015, and be completed by March 1, 2017.
By March 2017 the consumers will be divided into two groups: those consuming a volume of up to 100 kW\h per month, and those consuming a volume of over 100 kW\h per month.
The price of electricity for the first group of consumers in March 2017 will be UAH 0.9 per kW\h, while for the second group it will be UAH 1.68 per kW\h.
At the same time, during the transition period, from 2015 to 2017, consumers will be divided into three groups – those with a minimum volume of consumption up to 100 kW\h per month, a group with consumption from 100 kW\h to 600 kW\h and a group consuming more than 600 kW\h per month.
In addition, according to Gerus, the minimum tariff for electricity for the population will be increased by 19%, up to UAH 0.37 per kW\h from April 1, 2015. This minimum rate will be applied to households with the volume of consumption up to 100 kW\h per month. Households with a volume of consumption from 100 to 600 kW\h per month will pay UAH 0.63 per kW\h. Thus, they will have an increase of 50%. Households with the volume of consumption of more than 600 kW\h per month will pay UAH 1.40 per kW\h from April 1, 2015. They will have an increase of 5%.
The members of the National Commission for state energy and public utilities regulation said that the increased electricity tariffs for the population are to be applied only when consumption reaches 101 kW\h.
"That means that the population of Ukraine is guaranteed to receive 100 kW\h of electricity per month at the lowest price," the report says.
According to the department, the final decision on the program of increase in electricity tariffs for the population will be taken on February 26, before the end of the day.
