Transit shipments of natural gas via the Ukrainian gas transmission system (GTS) in January-May 2019 grew by 7.8% year-over-year (y-o-y), to 37.6 billion cubic meters (bcm).

In particular, gas transit supplies from Russia via Ukraine in May 2019 alone stood at 8.37 bcm, which was 16.4% up year-over-year, the state-run gas transmission system operator Ukrtransgaz said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, transit shipments of natural gas through the Ukrainian gas transmission system in 2018 declined by 7.1% from 2017, to 89.774 bcm.

In 2017, Ukraine transmitted 93 bcm of gas to the European countries, setting a record high volume over the past years.
