Hryvnia falls to UAH 23.61 to dollar on interbank market

Hryvnia quotes against the euro have settled at UAH 25.53/25.64, while against the Russian ruble they have settled at UAH 0.437/0.439.

The participants of the market say that with the opening of trading day the demand exceeded the supply. However, by midday demand fell after the National Bank of Ukraine rejected a number of foreign exchange agreements under the current inspection procedures for advance payments on imports.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the weighted average exchange rate of the hryvnia as of 1230 was UAH 23.5581 to the dollar, with 47 deals concluded by this time worth a total of $17.15 million.
