The decision was made after talks between Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Shulmeister and the airline’s management in Switzerland, the ministry’s press service said on Friday.

"Flights will be carried out by the Hungarian [parent] airline. But we in the ministry will continue to work to ensure WizzAir Ukraine resumes its activities as soon as possible. There are still a number of issues that need to be tackled," the ministry stated in a press release.

WizzAir Ukraine will now stay in the Ukrainian market, but there are no talks yet on the resumption of its full flight schedule, the ministry said.

WizzAir Ukraine announced on March 26 the termination of its activities in Ukraine. The company’s representatives stated that eight flights to and from Ukraine would be carried out by the parent airline company WizzAir Hungary. According to the airline management, the decision was due to the instability of situation in the eastern Ukraine and the devaluation of the hryvnia.

WizzAir Ukraine was the first low cost airline licensed by the State Aviation Service of Ukraine. The company is a part of WizzAir group of companies, which is the largest low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe.
