Agrarians of almost all Ukrainian regions started sowing winter crops, having planted 364,000 hectares (ha) out of 7.3 million ha as of Sept 11, or 5% of the target.

In particular, the farmers planted winter wheat on 338,000 ha (5% of the target); rye on 16,000 ha (14%); and winter barley on 9,000 ha (1%), the ministry's press service said.

In addition, winter rapeseed was sown on 892,000 ha, or 83% of the target.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian agrarians collected 39.7 million tonnes of grains and leguminous crops from 10 million ha as of Sept 9, 2019, which was 66% of the target forecast.

In particular, the farmers threshed 39.2 million tonnes of early grains and legumes from 9.96 million ha, which was 99.9% of the forecast; 29,000 tonnes of buckwheat from 46,000 ha (32% of the target); 110,000 tonnes of millet from 58,000 ha (64% of the forecast); and 2.5 million tonnes of sunflower from 1.2 million ha (21% of the forecast).

In addition, the farmers from 15 Ukrainian regions have started harvesting maize.
