Minister for Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov has said Internet coverage in Ukraine reaches 70%.

"We are doing research. The regulator gives us data that the country is covered by 62%. This is not about mobile, but about high-speed Internet. But we already see when we began to study and look for additional sources of research, it is already somewhere around 70%. But we will soon publish this data. Our goal is 90-100%," he said in an interview to RFE/RL's Ukrainian service.

Fedorov said the Ukrainian government plans to realize this goal by 2022.

On May 17, the fifth Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on measures to introduce a fifth generation mobile communication system (5G).

In July, the sixth President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree to improve access to fourth-generation (4G) communications across the country by the end of the year.
