REUTERS The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on Thursday evening weakened the official hryvnia exchange rate by 29 kopiykas for Friday, January 10, bringing the national currency to UAH 24.12 to the U.S. dollar. In December 2019, the national currency had been updating or holding its record high since January 2016, that&#39;s until December 27, when the hryvnia official rate for the first time dropped to UAH 23.29 to the dollar against the latest four-year maximum set at UAH 23.26 on December 26, according to the NBU&#39;s website. The official forex rate against the euro for Friday, January 10, is fixed at UAH 26.80 per euro. As UNIAN reported earlier, since early December 2019, the hryvnia has strengthened against the U.S. dollar by 1.5% and by 14.5% since January 1, 2019. Ukraine&#39;s national currency in 2018 strengthened against the U.S. dollar by 1.4%, up to UAH 27.69 as of January 1, 2019. Hryvnia&#39;s historical low against the U.S. dollar was registered at UAH 30.01 in February 2015.
