Canada will provide financial assistance to the Ukrainian police amounting to $2 million over the following three years, according to Canadian Foreign Minister François-Philippe Champagne.

"While in Ukraine, Minister Champagne highlighted Canada's continued commitment to the country's ambitious reform efforts and engaging women in peace and security efforts," the press service of the Canadian Government wrote following the minister's visit.

The minister also announced more than $2 million over three years to help strengthen the capacity of the National Police of Ukraine in planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing reform processes.

Also, the top diplomat discussed "the work that Canada is doing to stand up for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian aggression."

During his visit, Minister Champagne visited Canadian troops deployed on Operation UNIFIER at the International Peacekeeping and Security Centre in Yavoriv.
