"The government has not estimated an exact amount of the damage done during military operations in Donbas, but our international partners have. An approximate amount is $1.2 billion to rebuild infrastructure and additional $300 million will be needed to restore peace. The estimates also include humanitarian losses. Another $316 million is to be spent on humanitarian needs alone," Chernysh said in an interview with Channel 5.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a draft law on the ratification of the memorandum of intent by the governments of Ukraine and Germany on an untied commercial loan worth EUR 500 million to be provided by the German Credit Institution for Reconstruction (KfW) to finance projects, primarily related to the restoration of infrastructure in eastern Ukraine.

The investments shall cover such areas as transport, energy, heating, energy efficiency, water supply, sewerage, social infrastructure rehabilitation and housing construction.
