"The Russian Ministry of Agriculture should confirm the targeted use of products that are imported, therefore, it must develop a relevant procedure," the BBC reported, citing a Russian government resolution.

In late May, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered the government to extend the embargo until the end of 2017 with regard to those countries that had imposed sanctions against Russia for its annexation of Crimea and accusations of involvement in the Donbas conflict.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in August 2014 Russia imposed restrictions on food imports from the United States, the European Union, Canada, Australia, and Norway. Later, Russia extended its food embargo until August 2016 inclusively. The list of countries was also extended to incorporate Albania, Montenegro, and Ukraine.
