"Officials have been detained in their offices after receiving a bribe in the amount of $4,000, namely, heads of the Housing, Transport and Communications Department, and Legal Department of the Kharkiv City Council, as well as a lawyer," Gerashchenko wrote.
He informed that the suspects extorted and received bribes for dropping a claim concerning the recognition of ownership right to an apartment that was the object of disputes due to inheritance issues.
Gerashchenko said that the Prosecutor General's Office is studying investigation materials with a view of expanding the list of suspects provided there is a sufficient evidentiary basis.
