In particular, some 2.98 billion banknotes worth UAH 359.4 billion ($12.6 billion) and 12.97 billion coins worth UAH 2.07 billion ($72.5 million) were in circulation as of January 1, 2018, it said.

Coins whose face value is one and 10 kopiykas prevailed too, accounting for 18.79% and 29.36%, respectively.
There were 70 banknotes and 293 small coins in circulation per capita, it said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the country's monetary base shrank by 0.7% in January-November 2017, to UAH 378.746 billion ($13.3 billion), while the money supply, or M3, increased by 2.4%, to UAH 1.127 trillion ($39.5 billion).
In 2016, the monetary base grew by 13.6%, while the money supply soared by 10.8%.
