Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed Law No. 810-IX "On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine on improving the conditions for promoting electricity generation from renewable energy sources" passed by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on July 21, 2020.

The law is the first step toward solving the existing problems in the electricity market and is intended to ensure the country's energy stability, as reported by the president's press service.

Zelensky also appealed to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, instructing him to take comprehensive measures to address the functioning of the electricity market in Ukraine, including ensuring fair conditions for all economic entities operating in the integrated power system of Ukraine.

The president has asked the government to systematically analyze the state of implementation of the Law of Ukraine "On the Electricity Market" by all market players and immediately prepare proposals to improve legislation.

It is reported Zelensky keeps under personal control the issue of ensuring the sustainable and reliable operation of the integrated power system of Ukraine and instructed the prime minister to report on the accomplishment of the tasks weekly.
