The number of Kyiv residents who support Ukraine's accession to the European Union (63%) and NATO (56%) has almost not changed over the past year. Another 18% oppose the country's accession to the EU, while 23% are against joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, according to a survey conducted by the Rating sociological group and presented by its Head Oleksiy Antypovych and Deputy Head Liubomyr Mysiv at a press conference on Tuesday, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

"Almost two thirds supported joining the European Union, almost one in five did not, but 18% who are against joining the EU are not for Russia," Antypovych said.

In this regard, he noted that a mere 5% of Kyiv residents choose the country's Russia-oriented foreign policy and advocate for the state's entry into the Eurasian Customs Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus).

At the same time, according to the survey, the pro-European direction is the leading one among various areas of foreign economic integration in future. At the same time, against the background of a decrease in the number of those who choose the EU out of possible integration options (from 59% to 56%), the number of supporters of Ukraine's equidistance from Russia and the West is growing (from 23% to 25%).

The poll was conducted from November 16 to December 2 through personal formalized (face-to-face) interviews. The study involved 1,600 respondents. The margin of error does not exceed 2.4%.
