Fiscal inspectors of the investigative department of the State Fiscal Service (SFS) of Ukraine in Sumy region on May 16 exposed in Kyiv region a workshop where counterfeit alcoholic beverages, including of expensive international brands, were produced.
"In total, inventory items worth about UAH 5 million [US$189,825] have been revealed. It has been established that illegally made alcoholic beverages were sold across Ukraine, particularly in Sumy region," the press service of Sumy prosecutor's office told UNIAN on May 17.
Law enforcers have found equipment for mass production of excisable goods, and about 10,000 liters of raw alcohol and bottled counterfeit products.
Measures are now being taken to establish the full circle of persons involved in the illegal activities.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 3 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacturing, storage, sale or transportation for selling purpose of excisable goods upon prior conspiracy of an organized group).
