A senior investigator of Kyiv's Pechersk Police Department has been caught red-handed amid in a US$2,000 bribery case.

The law enforcement officer demanded this amount of money from a citizen for not bringing the latter to criminal responsibility and closing a criminal case on the fact of revealing a knife and an object similar to brass knuckles, according to the press service of the Kyiv prosecutor's office.

The police officer was detained on June 8 while receiving part of the sum in the amount of UAH 13,400 (US$506) near a restaurant in Kyiv's Sviatoshyn district.

He was served with charge papers under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Applying a measure of restraint and removing him from office are under consideration.
