Сivil servant detained upon receiving bribe in Kyiv

A civil servant with the Kyiv city branch of the Social Security Fund for the Disabled has been detained upon receiving a bribe of 17,000 (US$682).

"An employee received a UAH 17,000 bribe from CEO of a private company to avoid sanctions for non-compliance with the norm for employing persons with disabilities," the Kyiv Prosecutor's Office press service said on March 4.

The official was caught red-handed after receiving the bribe at her office.

Further investigation is under way.

Preliminary legal assessment is based on Article 368 (taking a bribe) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
