The total number of confirmed cases in Kyiv hits 4,980 / Photo from UNIAN

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 45 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 45 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus," he said on Facebook on June 29. "Two people died."

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city now is 4,980.

According to Klitschko, 17 women aged 21 to 85 and 27 men aged 20 to 66 are among those infected. In addition, one three-year-old girl tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said six new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under medical supervision.

The highest number of the new cases in Kyiv was registered in Shevchenkivsky district (10), Dniprovsky district (seven), Solomyansky, Obolonsky, and Holosiyivsky districts (five each).

Five people recovered in the past day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,552.

As UNIAN reported earlier, there were 43,628 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine as of 09:00 Kyiv time on June 29. They included 1,147 (including 18 in the past day) deaths and 19,027 (93) recoveries. Some 646 new cases were recorded across the country in the past 24 hours.
