Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city rose by 63 in the past day.

"In the past 24 hours, the number of Kyiv residents who tested positive [for the coronavirus] increased by 63, including three health care workers," he said during an online briefing on April 24.

"In total, there are 1,122 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kyiv," the mayor said.

According to Klitschko, 22 women aged 21 to 82 and 35 men aged 18 to 87 are among those infected. In addition, six boys aged six to 14 tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said 20 new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of doctors.

Eight people recovered from the disease in the past day, he said. In total, 53 Kyiv residents have already recovered from the coronavirus.
