Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city rose by 38 in the past day.

"In the past day, the number of Kyiv residents who tested positive [for the coronavirus] increased by 38, including eight healthcare workers. Three cases were fatalities. As of today, there are 2,359 confirmed COVID-19 cases," he said during an online briefing on May 19.

According to Klitschko, 23 women aged 29 to 87 and 12 men aged 24 to 58 are among those infected. In addition, two girls and one boy under the age of 17 tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said eight new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of doctors.

Sixty-one people recovered from the disease in the past day, he said. In total, 285 Kyiv residents have already recovered from the coronavirus.
