Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 53 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 53 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus, including three healthcare workers. There were two fatalities," he said during an online briefing on June 15.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city is 3,957.

According to Klitschko, 21 women aged 36 to 86 and 27 men aged 20 to 87 are among those infected. In addition, three girls (aged four, five and six) and two boys (aged five and nine) tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said five new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of doctors.

The highest number of the new cases in Kyiv was registered in Shevchenkivsky district (12), Solomyansky district (nine), as well as Desniansky and Darnytsia districts (seven each).
