Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 72 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 72 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus, including six healthcare workers," he said on June 8.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city is 3,490.

According to Klitschko, 43 women aged 23 to 84 and 25 men aged 21 to 71 are among those infected. In addition, two girls (one and nine years old) and two boys (aged eight months and 10 years old) tested positive for the coronavirus.

The number of the new cases in Kyiv was registered in Dniprovsky district (14), Desniansky and Obolonsky districts (10 each), and Shevchenkivsky (9).

As of today, the death toll in the capital city is 77 cases.

In total, 888 Kyiv residents have already recovered.
