Kyiv mayor reports 1,143 new daily COVID-19 cases / REUTERS

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 1,143 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 1,143 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus, including 45 healthcare workers. There were 14 fatalities," Klitschko said on Telegram on November 17.

"As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city is 52,642."

According to the city mayor, 636 women aged 18 to 88 and 422 men aged 18 to 85 are among those infected.

Forty-three girls (from five months to 17 years old) and 42 boys (from 21 days to 17 years old) have tested positive for COVID-19.

He added that 359 people had recovered in the past day.

In total, 19,126 Kyiv residents have already beaten the disease.

The highest number of the new cases in Kyiv was registered in Darnytsky district (164), Desniansky district (155), and Dniprovsky district (139).

The death toll in the city stands at 990.
