Kyiv mayor reports 879 new daily COVID-19 cases / Photo from UNIAN

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 879 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 879 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus, including 43 healthcare workers. There were 11 fatalities," Klitschko said on Telegram on November 16.

"As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city is 51,499."

According to the city mayor, 511 women aged 18 to 99 and 316 men aged 18 to 93 are among those infected.

Klitschko said 79 new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under medical supervision.

He added that eight people had recovered in the past day.

In total, 18,767 Kyiv residents have already beaten the disease.

The highest number of the new cases in Kyiv was registered in Darnytsky district (125), Obolonsky district (115), and Podilsky and Solomyansky districts (112 each).

The death toll in the city stands at 976.
