Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 199 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 199 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus," he said on Telegram on July 30. "As of today, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city is 8,131."

According to Klitschko, 59 women and 135 men are among those infected.

In addition, five children tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said 19 new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under medical supervision.

The highest number of the new cases in Kyiv was registered in Solomyansky district (95), Desniansky district (28), as well as Dniprovsky, Obolonsky and Holosiyivsky districts (14 each).

As UNIAN reported earlier, 1,197 new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 68,794 as of the morning of July 30.
