Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city rose by 43 in the past day.

"In the past 24 hours, the number of Kyiv residents who tested positive [for the coronavirus] increased by 43, including five healthcare workers. Unfortunately, one case was lethal," he said during an online briefing on April 29.

In total, there are 1,341 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kyiv.

According to Klitschko, 21 women aged 25 to 60 and 20 men aged 20 to 66 are among those infected. In addition, one girl and one boy under the age of 17 tested positive for the coronavirus.

Moreover, another two cases have been recorded in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery.

Klitschko said 17 new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of doctors.

"Another five people have recovered in the capital city over the past two days. In total, 69 Kyiv residents have already recovered from the coronavirus," the mayor said.
