The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kyiv rose by 56 in the past day, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has reported.

"In the past 24 hours, the number of Kyiv residents who tested positive increased by 56, including nine healthcare workers. Unfortunately, one case was lethal. As of today, there are 2,068 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 43 deaths, in the capital city," he said during an online briefing on May 15.

According to Klitschko, 27 women aged 21 to 78 and 19 men aged 30 to 80 are among those infected. Also tested positive two girls and eight boys under the age of 17.

Klitschko said 12 new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under the supervision of doctors.

Eleven people recovered from the disease in the past day, he said. In total, 200 Kyiv residents have already recovered.
