
The Ministry of Defense on December 14 for the first time in its history signed direct foreign economic contracts to purchase military goods from foreign suppliers, the ministry's press service reported.
Defense Minister Andriy Taran has signed a number of defense contracts with Turkish companies.
"Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran today signed agreements with Turkish companies on the transfer of technology and production of corvettes and strike UAVs for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the ministry said.

As noted by Taran, the deals cover projects designed to radically strengthen Ukraine Navy's combat capabilities to enhance security in the Black Sea-Azov region.
"These are the first concrete agreements within the framework of the recently signed agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the Republic of Turkey," the statement says.
The minister conveyed to the members of the Turkish delegation that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky highly appreciated steps taken to implement the agreements reached during his recent visit to Turkey.
Taran said that the head of state hopes that Ukrainian defense companies would receive a powerful incentive for further development due to Turkish technology and investment.
