Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance Volodymyr Viatrovych has said the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Building, Regional Policy and Local Self-Government backed the renaming of Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions.

"The Committee on State Building, Regional Policy and Local Self-Government of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has backed the proposal to rename Dnipropetrovsk region into Sicheslavsk, and Kirovohrad region into Kropyvnytskyi. Decommunization cannot be stopped," he wrote on Facebook.

According to the agenda of today's meeting of the committee, the deputies considered the draft law on amendments to Article 133 of the Constitution of Ukraine (on renaming Dnipropetrovsk region) (No. 8329) and the draft law on amendments to Article 133 of the Constitution of Ukraine (on renaming Kirovohrad region) (No.8880).

At the same time, the main committee on these bills is the Committee on Legal Policy and Justice.
