The House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress has supported the allocation of $250 million to boost Ukraine's security and defenses.

"The amount allocated to the U.S. Department of Defense on security assistance to Ukraine is estimated at $250 million. Of the total, $50 million is to be directed at lethal weapons," the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States wrote on Facebook.

According to the diplomats, the document includes a provision on cybersecurity cooperation with Ukraine.

In particular, the State Department was instructed to report to the Congress on the state of cooperation with Ukraine in the field of cybersecurity with a view to seeking new directions for such interaction and support.

"Next, the draft of the National Defense Appropriations Act 2019 has to be supported by the Senate and handed over to U.S. president for him to sign it off," the Ukrainian embassy concluded.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the U.S. Congress planned to allocate $250 million for security assistance to Ukraine in 2019.
