Yevhen Marchuk, Ukraine's envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, has announced a new truce has been agreed after midnight on March 8.

"An agreement has been reached today and all the sides have agreed that a truce will start from 00:00 [on March 8]," he said on Pryamiy TV after a new round of peace talks in Minsk on Thursday, March 7.

Yet, he said, there are no much hope and optimism for this. "The ball is in Russia's court," he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Russian proxy forces nine times fired on Ukrainian positions in the Joint Forces Operation zone on March 6. Six enemy attacks were reported from 00:00 to 18:00 on March 7.
