Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Patriarch of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine Filaret will pray for Ukraine while on a visit to the European Parliament.

The service will be held in a special prayer room at the European Parliament headquarters April 2, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

On the same day, Patriarch Filaret will attend two conferences: "The human cost of Russian aggression in Ukraine: Testimonies of abductions, torture and murder" and "Ukraine in times of independence: the Orthodox Kyiv Patriarchate and the challenges of a changing society."

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 17, at a meeting with the leaders of parliamentary factions, the president stated that he and the hierarchs of the UOC-KP and Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church decided to officially address Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I with a request to grant independence to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and asked the parliament to support the appeal.
