EU Council 'agrees to include militants on sanctions list'
The EU Council for Foreign Affairs has agreed to lengthen the list of persons falling under the sanctions of the European Union imposed in response to Russia's actions in Ukraine, a European diplomat told UNIAN on Monday.
"The list will include pro-Russian separatists from the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk Peoples’ Republics and the organizers of the pseudo-elections in the Donbas [on November 2]," the diplomat told UNIAN’s Brussels correspondent.
News agency Reuters has reported that the self-proclaimed leaders of the Donetsk and Luhansk Peoples' Republics, Oleksandr Zakharchenko and Ihor Plotnitsky, will be added to the EU sanctions list.
The agency said the names of other senior officials of the breakaway republics would also be added to the list.
