Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on settlement situation in eastern Ukraine Ambassador Martin Sajdik says that the possible deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in Donbas will be discussed at the meeting of Political Directors of the foreign ministries of the Normandy Four (Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia) in Berlin, on July 26.

"As you know, tomorrow (26.07.2018) Berlin will host Normandy Four meeting on the level of Political Directors. In the spirit of my previous statements, I would like to welcome the fact that the possible involvement of UN forces to resolve the conflict in the east of Ukraine will be the tomorrow's topic of discussion," Sajdik said, following the meeting of the TCG ‎and its Working Groups in Minsk on July 25, 2018.

Sources in diplomatic circles have told UNIAN that Political Directors of the foreign ministries of the Normandy Four are expected to hold talks in Berlin, Germany, this week.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Normandy Four foreign ministers met in Berlin, Germany, on June 11, 2018.

Following the meeting, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said the parties considered the prospects for holding a meeting at the level of leaders of four states in the near future. They also discussed the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas, as well as for the first time addressed the issue of the release of Ukrainian political prisoners, illegally detained in Russia.

In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that at the Normandy Four meeting a dispute arose over the sequence of steps to implement the Minsk agreements.
