She said that this was her first visit to Ukraine as EU High Representative, and she thanked Poroshenko for his invitation to visit the country, an UNIAN correspondent reported.
"I really appreciate your energy and efforts that you are making for the sake of your country, and for your efforts to develop relations with the EU,” Mogherini told Poroshenko.
“The European Union gives a priority to Ukraine. It is very important for us to know what is happening in Ukraine. And we know that it is very important for us to support what you are doing as president and personally.
"In this regard, it’s very important to start implementing the necessary reforms," Mogherini said.
"The program of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is very ambitious and not easy. In particular, many European countries had previously similar problems and challenges, but they managed to find the proper resolution.
"Yesterday, on December 15, there was the inaugural [EU-Ukraine] Association Council meeting. In this regard, the EU and Ukraine have the appropriate tools and programs to implement the reforms so that they are effective.”
