President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has called for a non-partisan veteran movement, an UNIAN correspondent reports from an International Volunteer and Veteran Forum "Ukraine is where we are."

"Respecting the individual political views of each of you, I appeal, however, for non-partisanship of the veterans' movement," the president said. He opined that in the elections, veterans have a "first-priority right to run and join the authorities," both in central and local governments.

"I think that this is dishonest, wrong and unfair when veterans are in the operational reserve of draft offices only. They should be part of the cadre reserve of every local government, every ministry, or committee," Poroshenko is convinced.

Earlier, the Center for Rehabilitation of War Veterans was opened in Rubizhne, Luhansk region.
