A joint military brigade created by Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania will be operational in the first quarter of 2015, instead of late 2016 as previously planned, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Thursday at meeting with the Ukrainian community in Lublin in Poland.

Earlier in the day, the president visited the brigade’s base together with Deputy Prime Minister and Polish Minister of Defense Tomasz Siemoniak.

Poroshenko is on the second day of a two-day state visit to Poland.
