Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk has said Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland canceled her scheduled visit to Ukraine over urgent trade talks in Washington, D.C.

"Due to urgent events and negotiations around the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), [Canada's] Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland postpones visits to Kyiv and Paris and travels to Washington, D.C.," the ambassador tweeted on August 28.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Freeland's working visit to Kyiv on August 27-29.
