Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces Gen. Viktor Muzhenko has said the General Staff elaborated scenarios and algorithms of interaction between the commanders in case of escalation of the situation in the country's south.
"In the course of work with the commanders in the south of Ukraine, we have developed scenarios and models of interaction in case the situation escalates," he wrote on Facebook.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on October 12 enacted a National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) decision on urgent measures to protect national interests in the south and east of Ukraine, in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, and the Kerch Strait.
The decision notes that, having considered threats to national security in the south and the east of Ukraine, in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas and the Kerch Strait, caused by Russian aggression, the NSDC confirmed the presence of conditions that could lead to critical destabilization of the economic, social and political situation, sea blockade of the coast of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian government was instructed to create an inter-agency coordination body that should generalize the legal position of the state on drafting Kyiv's consolidated claim against Russia, demanding Moscow's international legal responsibility for armed aggression against Ukraine.
