The Verkhovna Rada has adopted in the first reading the draft law on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, 246 out of 449 lawmakers, registered at the session, voted for this. The factions of the Party of Regions and Communists abstained from voting.
According to President’s top deputy Chief of Staff Oleksander Shlapak, the draft law stipulates that should the law be violated at proposing candidacies for the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine, or should such candidacies not correspond with the demands to a Cabinet of Ministers member, the President of Ukraine informs the Verkhovna Rada that it is impossible to submit the proposed candidacy for the consideration of parliament for the post of PM.
Besides, the law stipulates that the Defense Minister and the Foreign Minister of Ukraine are appointed by the Verkhovna Rada only on the submission of the President.
The proposal of the Prime Minister to dismiss the Defense Minister or the Foreign Minister may be submitted to the parliament only if the President gives his consent.
The draft law also stipulates that the government must fulfill decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, which are confirmed with the decrees of the Ukrainian President.
