Russian aggression in Kerch Strait: U.S. to "continue to hold Russia accountable"
The United States welcomes recent steps by the EU and its Member States to hold Russia accountable for its aggression against Ukraine, according to State Department's deputy spokesperson Robert Palladino.
"We support the EU position that Russia’s November 25th attack on Ukrainian vessels in the Black Sea constituted a violation of international law," Palladino said in a statement released Dec 15.
He added that the U.S. would continue to "present a unified front" with the Europeans against the Kremlin's aggression.
"The United States will continue to hold Russia accountable for its actions, and we will continue to work with European partners and Allies to present a unified front against the Kremlin’s aggression," said Palladino.
The official has also noted that Washington welcomes EU's efforts to provide support to areas of Ukraine "negatively affected by Russian aggression in the Sea of Azov."
This way, the official expressed support for the EU's position on the Kerch Strait conflict.
