Mogherini: New Russia sanctions not on the agenda at EU summit
No discussions about new sanctions against Russia are expected at today’s extraordinary meeting of heads of state and government of the European Union in Brussels, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said on Thursday.
Mogherini described the Minsk agreement, which was signed earlier on Thursday, as important but not definitive, Reuters reported.
Earlier it was reported that the EU summit had been postponed until 1500 CET (1600 Kyiv time) due to the unexpectedly long “Normandy Format” peace talks on the Ukrainian crisis in Minsk, which involved the leaders of France and Germany.
Also speaking earlier, Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb said that the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine "will also not be discussed at the meeting."
