Party of Regions faction presses to oust Lutsenko
For his false information about incident with peacemakers in Kosovo
The Party of Regions faction demands to dismiss Yuriy Lutsenko from post of the Minister of Interior for he had provided the Verkhovna Rada with a false information about the incident with Ukrainian peacemakers in Kosovo.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Party of Regions deputy leader Olexandr Yefremov claimed this to the plenary session of parliament today.
“Due to the fact that the Interior Minister provided us with the false information, the faction council raises the question about Lutsenko`s further holding the position”, - he said.
O.Yefremov noted that the incident, that happened to the Ukrainian peacemakers in Kosovo is connected with lives of many people. According to his words, from now on, Ukrainian peacemakers do not have to participate in the conflicts, which can harm their health and life.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Senior lieutenant Ihor Kinal, 25, Ukrainian member of the international force in Kosovo, who was seriously wounded in clashes in the north with Serb protesters on March 17, died in hospital. The peacemaker died at 10.00 p.m. on March 17, after a surgery. I.Kinal, was a native of the Ternopil Oblast in the west of Ukraine. On the whole, 20 Ukrainian peacemakers were wounded in Kosovo on March 17. All of them are undergoing medical treatment in hospitals at present. On Monday, March 17, Serb demonstrators in Mitrovica in Kosovo fired on United Nations and NATO peacekeepers. The incidents occurred after UN police ended the occupation by Serbs of a court building in the city. 20 Ukrainian and 22 Polish peacekeepers were injured.
The Serbs are protesting against the independence of Kosovo, formerly a province of Serbia. Ukraine contributed 155 police and 182 military personnel to the peacekeeping force in Kosovo.
