President Victor Yushchenko demands People’s Self-Defense lawmakers to strictly observe the instructions of his Chief of Staff Victor Baloha. According to Kommersant-Ukraine, in their turn, the lawmakers proposed the President to oust Mr.Baloha from his post.

On March 20, Victor Yushchenko met with People’s Self-Defense group of lawmakers (17 people), which is a part of the parliamentary faction of Our Ukraine-People’s Self Defense [OU-PSD]. This meeting was not publicized.

Another intrigue in the meeting was that earlier, on Wednesday, the President invited to the Presidential Secretariat another part of the OU-PSD faction – Our Ukraine representatives. “It seems that on Wednesday Our Ukraine honorary head Victor Baloha informed his fellow party members about something that we should not know”, a lawmaker said to Kommersant.

Meanwhile, according to MP David Zhvania, Victor Yushchenko gathered People’s Self-Defense lawmakers to inform them that he is not satisified with their behavior in the Verkhovna Rada. “The President said: you badly understand the trends and processes, taking place in the parliament. You should listen to the words of Victor Baloha. Baloha is me. And I answered him that, actually, we knew that”.

Another PSD lawmaker, Taras Stetskiv, told the newspaper about the contents of the talks: “We talked about the re-election of Kyiv authority, about the dismissal of the Prosecutor General, about adopting the government’s program. As a result, we reached understanding on two issues: the dismissal of the Prosecutor General and adopting the government’s program. We will vote for this after the President delivers his annual speech in parliament”.
