Medvedev: Russia ready to supply free gas to occupied areas of Donbas

"Another problem is related to gas supplies, because by a decision of the Ukrainian authorities, which is still in force, there is a situation in that area in which a number of settlements have been left without gas supplies,” Medvedev said.

“I would like the Ministry of Energy and Gazprom to prepare a proposal for the provision of humanitarian assistance in the form of gas supplies for the needs of these regions," he said.

According to him, this would be done so as not to let people freeze to death.

Russia said on Wednesday that the price of Russian gas sold to Ukraine would be increased from April.
