Klimkin calls on UN Security Council to send peacekeepers to Donbas
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has called on the UN Security Council to approve a request by Kyiv to deploy a UN peacekeeping force in the Donbas, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin said during the open debate of the Security Council on Monday, according to BBC Ukraine.
"We hope that the member states of the United Nations and, first of all, the UN Security Council, will support this request for help," he said.
"This initiative does not contradict the Minsk agreements, but rather can help to fulfill these agreements and to restore peace," Klimkin said.
The minister also said that the agreements on a ceasefire reached by the "Normandy Four" leaders in Minsk had not been implemented.
