Prosecutor General Shokin confirms former finance minister's detention
Former Finance Minister Kolobov was detained in Spain, according to Interpol, the prosecutor general said.
Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin has confirmed in a comment to Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda that former Ukrainian finance minister Yuriy Kolobov has been detained.
According to Interpol, Kolobov was detained in Altea, a town and municipality located in the province of Alicante, Spain, on March 3, Shokin said.
"At present, a pre-trial investigation authority is urgently preparing documents for his extradition in line with the 1957 European Convention on Extradition," Shokin added.
Former finance minister Kolobov was put on Interpol's international wanted list at the request of the Main Investigation Department of the Ukrainian General Prosecutor's Office.
