Ukraine's Rada passes resolution to host NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Kyiv
The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has passed a resolution to host the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) in Kyiv on May 22-25, 2020.
Relevant resolution No. 10091 was backed by 235 out of the 345 MPs registered in the session hall, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
It is envisaged to establish an organizing committee to prepare and hold the NATO PA spring session. The Verkhovna Rada's chairman shall head the committee.
The resolution approves the composition of the organizing committee, according to the list of positions, and authorizes the chairman of the organizing committee to change its composition if necessary.
The organizing committee should also approve within two weeks an action plan to prepare and hold the NATO PA spring session.
In addition, Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers should decide within two weeks on the participation of relevant ministries and other central executive agencies in preparations for the NATO PA spring session and ensure timely financing from the 2020 national budget.
